Anyone (18+) who wants to test their Strength & Endurance in a fun, encouraging, and competitive setting. We’re less concerned on who lifts the heaviest, and more focused on Athletes hitting personal records. You’ll be surprised what you can accomplish with the power of your Team behind you.
Your weight class is based on your bodyweight. We have three weight classes per gender to choose from, with different weights for the rep tests in each. Competitor may choose to compete in a higher weight class than their bodyweight falls, but may not move down in a weight class.
You will indicate which weight class you intend to compete in upon registration. Weigh-in will take place at event check-in, and any necessary changes will be assigned then.
At each rep test, the bar will be set at a prescribed weight for your weight class. You will have two minutes to complete as many reps as possible (without reracking or stepping away from the bar) at your prescribed weight. You are allowed to rest in between repetitions as needed, but your test is over as soon as you rerack the barbell or step away from the deadlift bar. As soon as you rerack the barbell or step away from the deadlift bar, your rep test is over. You are not required to use the full two minutes for your rep test.
You are. But, even if you’re not the heaviest lifter in the room, this is a great way to test your strength and muscular endurance in an encouraging and motivating environment. You may set a new PR or surprise yourself with how many reps you can hit when you push yourself. This competition is about hitting your own personal best and pushing outside of your comfort one.
Each of the six events will be weighted equally. Whoever wins each event will receive the highest amount of points possible, with second place earning the second highest amount, and so on. Whoever has the overall highest points at the end of all six events is named our Lift Off Champion (M/F.) Only heavyweight division competitors are eligible to be named Lift Off Champion. Other divisions will have their own winners named with an honorable mention and other great prizes.
Chalk will be provided for the deadlifts, and you are welcome to bring a weight belt, knees sleeves or wrist wraps, however lifting straps are not permitted.
The two Lift Off Champions, crowned from the Heavyweight division, will receive an annual Tone House Membership + $1500 cash prize. The individual event winners and other division champions will receive additional prizes from Tone House and event partners.
In the squat and bench press rep tests, your score is counted as soon as you rerack the barbell. You are permitted to take as much time between reps with the barbell still at extension or on your back as you need. In the bench press, feet may be flat on the ground or on the bench for shorter athletes. In the deadlift, you may rest the barbell on the ground for maximum 2 seconds at a time in between lifts. Mixed grip is permitted, Sumo is not. You may not take your hands off the barbell. As soon as you remove your hands or take longer than 2 seconds to perform the next lift, your rep test is complete.
